It's time for my favorite fundraiser of the year and time to start fundraising! It's the 5th year I am participating in the Michael J. Fox Foundation's (MJFF) Tour de Fox Cycling Series for Parkinson's Disease Research. This research is incredibly important to me as I am the third generation in my family to develop this horrible, debilitating disease and I want to do my part to help researchers find a cure soon.
I also want to bring awareness that this is not just "an old person's disease". Young Onset Parkinson's Disease (YOPD) affects nearly 10-20% of those diagnosed (before the age of 50). An estimated six million people worldwide are living with PD.
People with Parkinson's can help slow the progression by leading an active and healthy lifestyle along with medication. However, there is no known cure yet. MJFF is working to change this, as it is the world's largest nonprofit funder of PD research.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to my team. Your gift will make a real difference - 100 percent of Tour de Fox virtual ride proceeds will go directly to The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s high-impact research programs. Thank you for your support!
