Thank you for visiting my Tour de Fox page! This year, I am actively participating in the Michael J. Fox Foundation's (MJFF) Tour de Fox Cycling Series for Parkinson's Research in support of my dear friend, Dave Keller. On Monday, August 30th, me, Dave, and 7 other brave souls will be doing a 72-mile ride around Lake Tahoe. Every mile we put behind us will bring us closer to a cure. An estimated six million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s disease (PD) — a chronic neurodegenerative disorder. Sadly, there is no known cure, but MJFF is working tirelessly to change this. Many of those six million people may not be known by us personally, but some are our own family members and friends, like Dave. I've had the privilege of going on many bike rides with Dave since he was diagnosed and I can attest that cycling has directly contributed to helping control the PD symptoms one experiences with this disease. For folks like Dave, PD is a very real part of their lives each and every day. In Dave's own words, "PD is complex and affects people in a variety of ways--in my case, I tremor on my left side sometimes, my throat feels constricted, affecting speech and swallowing, and at times, I feel at a loss for words, which is awkward for a guy who majored in Rhetoric and spent his career in sales and sales management! Other signs are fatigue, stiffness, and slowness of movement. For me, none of these symptoms is constant, but they are present enough to be a daily reminder that PD will be an ongoing challenge for me." One thing Dave decided he could do a few years ago is to support the work to find a cure for this affliction, which he has been doing with an inspiring level of determination and commitment. Your gift will make a real difference: 100 percent of Tour de Fox virtual ride proceeds will go directly to The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s high-impact research programs. Please help us move a cure for Parkinson's disease forward by making a donation today. Thank you for your support! Cheers, Brandon
